AnswerSense® Highlight Privacy Policy

AnswerSense® Highlight is designed to keep the texts you study and the marks you make on your device. Enlumen GmbH does not receive them during ordinary use of the app. No account or sign-in is required.

Information the app handles on your device

The app handles text that you paste or open, the passages you mark for study, your responses and progress, and your settings. These data are stored locally to let you return to your work. The app does not require access to your camera or microphone for its current functions.

The app uses local progress data to support your study. It has no advertising, analytics, cloud synchronization, or automatic diagnostic reporting. Its use of progress data does not produce decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

When information can leave your device

The app does not automatically transmit your texts, marks, or responses to Enlumen. If you choose to share content or send us information for support, the selected recipient receives what you send. A file provider or device backup service you choose may store copies under its own terms and privacy practices. Opening an external link makes a normal website request. Installing or updating the app, or making a purchase, may involve Apple or Google under their own privacy notices.

Keeping and deleting local data

Your study data remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app, subject to any copies you have shared and any device backups you have enabled. You control those copies and backups through the service that holds them. Because Enlumen does not receive your ordinary study data, we cannot view or erase a copy held only on your device or in a service you chose.

If you contact us

When you email support, we receive your email address and the information you decide to provide. We use it to investigate and answer your request. If your inquiry concerns a contract or steps toward one, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; otherwise it is our legitimate interest in providing support (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Legal recordkeeping, where applicable, is based on Article 6(1)(c) GDPR. You can ask for help without sending the text you are studying. Our email-service provider processes and stores correspondence on mail servers in Germany.

We normally delete routine support correspondence within three years after the end of the calendar year in which the matter closes. We may keep messages longer if they form part of records that the law requires us to retain, or if a specific ongoing matter or legal claim makes further retention necessary. We delete them when that reason ends.

Your rights

For personal data that Enlumen holds, you may, subject to the conditions of the GDPR, request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact privacy@enlumen.eu. You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, including the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in Baden-Württemberg.
